He would have been 14 today. My beloved Codester who died far too early at the age of 11 from cancer. Yet I still can't help but remember him on his birthday each year. What a God-sent treasure he was!
The top photo, his puppy 'over the shoulder' shot is one of my long time favorites. The bottom photo is one someone took for me. I am so thankful to have pictures to remember him by.
I notice it goes the same for our four legged children as it does for our two-legged. With Cody, my 'firstborn', I took LOTS of pictures. With my current dog, Aztec, I haven't taken as many. I need to change that and start getting caught up on her pictures.
Along with thinking of Cody I think of each of you out there who have lost a beloved pet. As with any lost loved ones, at least we have the memories.
Back to writing topics next week.

I still have the photo you sent me several years ago, of the two of you. I see it every now and then when I am flipping through albums. Such a beautiful doggie!
Only a few in a lifetime have such a bond with a pet. Mine was Lady. She was there through all my adolescent changes--high school, college, first boyfriends, first child. I feel your pain, Brenda. Romans 8:21 gives me hope that I will see her again.
