Remembering Cody

First, I can't let August 28th pass without mention of my beloved black lab, Cody, who died in January 2007 from cancer. He would have been 15 today and was my best friend and constant companion for 11 years. "Just a dog" to some, but a child to me. And no one suffers the grief of losing a child lightly. Though this is the first time, in the 3.5 years since his death, that I wasn't absolutely morose on his birthday. Finally, the passage of time is easing some of the hurt but I could never forget him.

As to writing--I've been struggling. Work has taken over my life and writing, among other things, has been pushed out of my existence. But I'm fighting to reclaim it. I pray September will bring about beneficial changes.

So in the meantime, even if my own writing is on hold, I'm trying to read some fiction. Am presently reading Wrapped In Rain by Charles Martin. It's been out for a few years, but I'm a little slow on the draw in getting to the fiction.

May your Sunday be blessed and filled with the presence of the Lord!

Thinking of you as you remember your beloved Codester. He's hanging out with Alexander now.

Yes, he is! My current dog, Aztec, and I have fallen out of the habit of going for morning walks during this hot summer and that's another September change I need to make. Both of us--for our physical AND mental well being, need to get back to our morning routine!
