It took me longer than expected but as promised, I'm announcing the start of my "Name That Dog Breed" Contest!
The contest is very simple. After much deliberation, I have chosen to post five of my favorite photos of my two-year-old girl, Aztec. Your job is to leave a comment with your guess as to what breed she is and why you think so.
The contest will run until December 10th at midnight, Eastern Standard Time. On December 11th, I will draw a name from all those who have left comments with a guess as to Aztec's breed. The winner will receive a small gift basket for themselves and their favorite canine friend.
Contest is open to residents of the U.S. only.
I look forward to seeing your guesses!

Hi Brenda--
Hope all is going well with P.E. (that includes "Phys. Ed." with Aztec! :)--She's a beauty, by the way, and I think she knows it!
Just getting over the flu and trying to get my first assign. in for my course.
My guess on Aztec: An Ibizan. (Wonder if Moses would have recognized her)Blessings...Pat I.
Pat, I was thinking of Ibizan Hounds and Pharoah Hounds, too, because of her gorgeous tall ears, her coloring and her lean, tall body. They're relatively rare, so I can't commit. Rhodesian Ridgeback came to mind, guessing she is a large dog, but the tell-tale ridge is missing.
Hmmm, this is a tough one! The curious curl to her tail throws me off. Basenji's have a curly tail, and can come in that color, and have that body type and head, except they're generally smaller. Does she have an unusual yodeling bark?
Kathleen,
Nope, no yodeling bark. She has a normal big dog bark. 8-) Though I've always wanted to meet a Basenji in person so I could hear that sound for myself!
shucks. back to the draw'ring board, then.
; )
OKAY - my guess is a pharoah hound and lab. The big ears make me think of the pharaoh hound and the body looks labbish -plus think how many labs there are running around. : ) Don't know where she'd get the pharoah hound? Anyone visit Egypt two years ago?
